The last year could point to notable successes and rising international clout — but at what cost? Almost a year since the pandemic started, the world panorama since to be drastically different. For starters, it's the West that continues to struggle to cope with the virus, added to waves of social unrest and deep economic uncertainty. China, on the other hand, seems to have the pandemic under control and was the only country which economy actually expanded in 2020.
