Why is TikTok not being 100% honest? Following Russia's invasion of Ukraine, much of the world sided with the latter, leading tech companies to impose heavy sanctions or even bans on the former. On the surface, TikTok appears to have followed suit by suspending new content from Russia. However, as Will Oremus explains, this had the opposite of the desired effect, resulting in a propaganda echo chamber uncontested by any outside or antiwar narratives.
