Labour’s progressive dream has died along with the Tories’ libertarian one

The UK government has no money left to make real change. Like the pound sterling, the Tory's current political power is worth only so much, and the Labour Party looks set to take office in the next general election. But, as Janan Ganesh points out, with so little left in the budget, there's little even a competent Prime Minister could do.
