Its lakes grew quietly for a decade. Since 2020, however, things have changed drastically. Kenya's great lakes — which are "vital to the country's people, economy and wildlife" — are flooding, in a devastating and long-ignored environmental disaster that is displacing hundreds of thousands of people.
