Do we want to live in a meritocracy?

Understanding the wealthy use it as a guise to monopolise. Modern political parties on either side of the spectrum have increasingly emphasised merit as the basis on which society should be organised, but this is highly problematic. Sam Freedman argues that individual talents aren’t deserved or earned, and therefore they should not be such a guiding principle of society.
